A group, Eastern Delta People’s Association, EDPA, has said that the next Rivers State governor, after the tenure of Mr. Rotini Amaechi, must be from the riverine area of the state.
The group also said it was imperative for everyone to abandon selfish political ambition or immediate gain in favour of what was just in the society because injustice was an invitation to anarchy.
The group, in a statement by its co-ordinators, Elder Jumbo and Prof. Georgewell, condemned the alleged endorsement of Supervising Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, by the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
The statement, read: “In 1999, Nigerians decided on equitable grounds to elect Chief Olusegun Obasanjo from the South-West as President and subsequently, the same sense of equity inspired Nigerians to elect Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, a South-South indigene, as President.
