A commercial motorcyclist met his death at about noon on Saturday, April 26, when he was crushed a commercial motorcyclist to death by an articulated vehicle at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) Estate Junction, Lugbe, along the Abuja Airport road.

A witness who preferred to be called Martins, said the motorcyclist who shuttles between the estate and the junction had just conveyed a passenger from the estate to the junction and turned to go back to the estate when he saw a woman walking in his direction and in a bid to avoid hitting the woman, he lost control of the motorcycle.

The witness said before he could regain control of the motorcycle, a trailer that was coming from the Tipper Garage in the area, rammed into him and crushed him beyond recognition.

A policeman at the scene who preferred anonymity told LEADERSHIP that motorcyclists had been banned from dropping passengers at the junction, adding that but for the violation of the law, the motorcyclists wouldn’t have lost his life.

“As a result of regular occurrence of accidents, the government posted policemen to the junction but accidents still occur and claim lives,” he lamented.
