The Assistant Inspector General of police, (AIG) in charge of Zone 11, David Oluwafemi Omojola has assured all stakeholders and members of the public that the Nigerian Police Force is fully on ground for the forthcoming elections in Osun and Ekiti States. The AIG made this known during an exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA'S correspondent in Osogbo. He assured members of the public to go about their normal businesses and duty without any fear as security is maximally guaranteed. The Nigerian police force in conjunction with other security agencies will safeguard them before, during and after the elections.
According to him, elections do not come without some problems and one of such problems is inflammatory statement. The force is doing its best to monitor unguarded utterances, and also monitor every process and progress from the ward congress to the primaries, and to picking a flag bearer for the various political parties. He therefore called on all stakeholders to desist from fomenting trouble or face the full wrath of the law, as the Nigerian police
force will not tolerate any trouble maker in the elections. Members of the public are also advised to be law abiding before, during and after the elections as the Nigerian police force is ready to ever and always protect them.
As regards the rumour of the intrusion of Boko haram insurgent in the south west, the AIG assured members of the public that his men are proactive, taking caution from areas bedevilled by insurgence and that there is continuous intelligence gathering going on. He reassured members to go about their normal duty as lives and properties are safe. The AIG who believes in collaborating with the community through police community relations committee, also stated that members of the public can assist the police by reporting suspicious movements to members of the police force. He said the contact number of every
principal police officer is online and that you can freely walk up to any police station to get the control room telephone number. He gladly gave his contact number as 08033008925 assuring everyone that response time will be quick and prompt.
