Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (Oyo state chapter), Pharmacist Abiodun Ajibade has been a breathe of fresh air for the society since assuming the role of chairman.
It has indeed not been business as usual as he has set out to make a mark without much fuss. He has led by example and that has been it easy for members of the Oyo state PSN to buy into his ideas as they together move the profession a step higher.
Since taking the leadership role of the PSN, Ajibade has led the society forward, executing programmes to reposition the society in a good light. Aggressive campaigns against drug abuse menace has been a prominent theme of the PSN under his leadership and it is hoped that in no distant time, the results of these campaigns and public enlightenment will be one that gladdens the heart.
Ajibade has been a voice for the society and rightly so too.
Speaking at this year';s World Pharmacists day, Ajibade challenged pharmacists to ensure all hands are on deck to eradicate the drug abuse menace.
He said, "For us as PSN, particularly the Oyo state chapter, we believe this is a clarion call to everyone. We must stamp out drug abuse in its entirety."
He has also been an advocate for local manufacturing of drugs to enhance healthcare delivery in the country. According to him, local production of drugs would create jobs for youths, reduce the heavy dependence on foreign exchange which would also open up opportunities which other sectors of the economy can fully leverage on.
