The Imo State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, on Tuesday, demonstrated in Owerri metropolis over the new minimum wage.
The government employees, who caused major traffic gridlock in the new Owerri axis of the state capital urged their employers to halt further delays in the implementation of their demand for an increase in the minimum wage.
Displaying placards with inscriptions that expressed their message, the protesters based their demand on the high cost of living in the country and the “scorching economic recession.”
While demonstrating, the NLC chairman in the state, Austin Chilapku, told news personnel; “we are on an enlightenment rally on the new minimum wage.”
The NLC chairman insisted that there was no need for the federal government to delay the implementation of the new minimum wage for the Nigerian workers.
