Abdeslam Ahizoune is the CEO of Maroc Telecoms, one of Africa’s biggest telecommunication companies (owned by French media giant Vivendi). Prior to the appointment, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Medi1Sat, the Moroccan television channel now called Medi 1 TV. Still remains a Director. He holds an engineering degree from Telecom ParisTech (1977) and was appointed the chairman of the Moroccan Association of Telecom Professionals (MATI) in 2008. He serves as the President of the Royal Moroccan Athletic Federation.
He has been the Chairman of Management Board and Member of Management Board at Itissalat Al-Maghrib (IAM) S.A. (formerly, Maroc Telecom S.A.) since February 20, 2001 and serves as its President. Mr. Ahizoune served as Member of Management Board at Universal Music Group, Inc. He held the position of Minister of Telecommunications from August 1997 to 1998 and Managing Director of the Office National des Postes et Télécommunications (ONPT) from February 1995 to August 1997 and again from 1997 to 1998. He also served as Minister of Postal and Telecommunications Services and Managing Director of the ONPT from August 1992 to February 1995 and Director of Telecommunications in the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications from 1983 to 1992.
Since 1982, Mr. Ahizoune held a number of positions in the Postal and Telecommunications Services and then in the ONPT. He serves as a Director of Maroc Telecom S.A. He serves as a Directors of Axa assurances and Holcim Maroc. He serves as member of Inter Alia. He is also the Vice-President of CGEM and the President of its Moroccan-Emirati economic commission. He has been Chairman of the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation (FRMA), since 2006. In 2008, he was appointed Chairman of the Moroccan Association of Telecoms Professionals (MATI). He is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris, France since February 2004.
