Missing General: 19 accused plead not guilty of killing Alkali

The 19 accused persons arrested by the police  in connection  with  the killing of Major General Idris Alkali (rtd) have been charged to court on two-count charges of conspiracy and culpable homicide.

The Registrar of the court read the charges to all the accused persons which they all pleaded not guilty before the Plateau State High Court 5 on Monday, 5th November, 2018 in Jos.

The Prosecution counsel, Barr Emmanuel O. Ochoaba told journalists that what happened in court was just transparent way of bringing the accused persons to court based on the offense they committed.

 He said when the charges were read to them, they all pleaded not guilty but they would be remanded in prison custody until the hearing commences on the 10th December, 2018.

The counsel  presented his expertise application in court which was granted audience by the court as the accused persons will be remanded in prison custody pending when the case comes up for hearing.

Meanwhile, the counsel to the 19 accused, Barr Gyang Zi said all the accused persons have pleaded not guilty to the charges read but they are pushing their application for bail before the court.

He expressed satisfaction that they didn’t plead guilty to the charges for now they are going to be remanded in prison custody until the hearing commences.

Presiding judge, Justice Daniel Longji adjourned the matter to 10th December, 2018 for the hearing to begin.

 According to him, in view of the pleading of the accused persons counsel, they have fixed a date to enable them complete their process of filing in court.
