Army redeploys Operation Lafiya Dole commander, 102 officers

The Nigerian Army on Saturday said it redeployed 103 senior officers for more effectiveness, including the Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, the military’s anti-Boko Haram operation in the North-East.

The army announced that the Theatre Command, Operation Lafiya Dole, would now be headed by Maj. Gen. Benson Akinroluyo, who took over from Maj. Gen. Abba Dikko.

Dikko, under whose watch the Islamic State faction of the Boko Haram terrorists attacked several army bases in the North-East, has now been redeployed to the Department of Civil Military Affairs as the Chief of Civil Military Affairs.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu, in a release on Saturday, announced the redeployments, noting that they were a routine exercise of the military.

Chukwu said, “The Nigerian Army has redeployed some of its officers from Operation Lafiya Dole, Operation Delta Safe as well as overstayed officers from the theatre as part of routine posting.

“The posting that affected 103 officers including majors and captains is aimed at injecting new hands to further actualise the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai. Maj. Gen. Nuhu Angbazo now moves to Headquarters 3 Division as the General Officer Commanding while Maj. Gen. Benson Akinroluyo has been redeployed from Headquarters 3 Division to Headquarters, Theatre Command, Operation Lafiya Dole as commander.”
