PASIT to train students in the art of interpretation and translation - ACCALAN Exec. Secretary

The Executive Secretary of the African Academy of Languages, ACALAN, Dr. Lang Fafa Dampha has disclosed that the Pan- African School for Interpretation and Translation project will train African';s in the practice of interpretation and translation of languages as part of ongoing efforts to promote the use of indigenous African languages.

He made the disclosure recently in a chat with CEOAfrica in Brazzaville.

He said, "The Pan-Africa School for Interpretation and Translation was conceived to promote African languages with the aim of using African languages in our meetings, programs and so on. It will train African';s in the profession of translation and interpretation among African languages first, from Swahili to Lingala, from Lingala to Yoruba and so on.

"We want to train students in the art of translation and interpretation between African languages to former colonial languages and others and vice versa.

ACALAN is a specialized arm of the African Union charged with responsibility of promoting African languages with the aim of making them languages of instruction and a tool of African integration and development.
