Vice chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola was in a thankful mood at the just concluded Chrisland University Christmas concert and carol service held over the weekend at the school auditorium in Abeokuta.
In her welcome address, Prof. Babalola noted that it is a season of thanksgiving and as an institution, Chrisland University has a lot to be thankful for. She added that it has be a year filled with so many activities, so many positives and very few negatives.
She noted that the institution has increased numerically having witnessed almost a hundred per cent increase in the space of one year. Prof. Babalola who recently marked her one year in office as the Vice Chancellor of the institution added that the number of Professors in the institution has also increased by five hundred per cent from the time she came in.
She said, “This year alone NUC has visited the institution twice, firstly, for a facility visit in August and they were satisfied with what they met on ground, secondly for the accreditation of nine of our programs. The University was described as one of the best universities.”
Speaking further the VC of the institution stated that the university has been invited to participate in two international events by the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in the course of the year.
“Our motto at Chrisland University is ‘Show light’, intellectual radiance. So Chrisland University will shine as a star”.
On the 3rd Christmas Carol, she said: “The theme of this year’s carol is government shall stand upon his shoulders, she prayed that the government of Chrisland University management and that of Nigeria as a whole will stand upon Christ’s shoulders.”
She also commended the staffs and students of the institution for their commitment, noting that they are the best she has ever worked with. Prof. Babalola reserved special praise for the Founder of the university, Mrs. Winifred Afolayan Awosika (OON) for her efforts in ensuring that the institution is where it is today.
