As part of ongoing efforts to promote and empower greater use of African Languages, ACALAN TV is set to Stream Live the African Academy of Languages, ACALAN’s Operational and Planning Workshop which is set to establish the Arabic, Sango and Isizulu Language Commissions.
The workshop scheduled for December 21 to 23 in Kigali, capital of Rwanda, will be centred on establishing the identified language commissions, identifying priority areas of the Vehicular Cross-border Language Commissions and to produce action plans based on the priority areas identified.
Also on the agenda for the workshop, is setting out modalities of the operation of the Arabic, Sango and Isizulu Vehicular Cross-border Language Commission and the National Language Structures.
Furthermore, it will look to clarify the role of other stakeholders, including Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Regional Institutions of Languages and Culture (RILC), Universities, Civil Society Organizations, ACALAN’s National Structures.
ACALAN is a specialized arm of the AU with the responsibility of promoting the use of indigenous African languages in all domains in the continent and using African languages as a tool for African integration and development for peaceful and prosperous African continent.
