Two cases have been reported of students that committed suicide after failing to meet their expectations in the just released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

In a Kisii county, a student reportedly took his life just a day after the results were announced.

According to police reports, the first victim is a 20-year-old student, identified as Geoffrey Ayako from Nyamache,  who hanged himself after scoring a mean grade of C minus.

Report reveals that the teen has taken the examinations for a second time after scoring a similar grade in his first attempt.

WENT MISSING

Kisii county police commander Edward Muli said it was unfortunate for the family to lose such a young boy and advised parents to properly guide their children to avoid such incidents in future.

In another development, suicide incident involved a former student of Lenana School, who went missing as his family was following the live coverage of the results announcement on TV.

According to police, the 18-year-old’s body was later found dangling in an upstairs room in the family home which is still under construction.

Police in Kiserian, Kajiado County said they have launched a probe into the incident saying that the motive behind the alleged suicide is yet to be established since the police did not find any suicide note nor anything suspicious.

The body of the deceased was moved to Montezuma Mortuary, Nairobi.
