He ran away and the wife was rushed to hospital, she died while on the way.
Police in West Pokot County have launched a manhunt for the suspect who stabbed his wife to death after they allegedly quarreled over a pair of shoes.
Jimmy Njoroge reportedly went missing after committing the crime at their home in Mawingo slums on Wednesday, December 26. Police have launched a search for the man who was reported missing after committing the crime.
According to one of the neighbors, Tom Makuto, the man wore his wife';s shoes which she had planned to wear and left the home on Christmas day only to return the following day.
"They quarreled every now and then. The wife bought a pair of unisex shoes. When the husband arrived on Christmas morning he wore the shoes, went away and came back on Boxing day. The wife questioned him and he pounced on her," said Makuto.
Confirming the incident, West Pokot police commandant Mathews Kuto said they had started investigating the matter and they were in search of the man.
Kuto said efforts of the neighbours to separate the two when they started fighting were futile as the husband took a kitchen knife and stabbed the wife three times.
According to the police boss, the couple were in their early 20s and had no child.
"The neighbours took the wife to the hospital, but unfortunately she died on the way," he said.
