Mrs. Mizinga Melu has been Chief Executive Officer for Africa Regional Management at Barclays Africa Group Limited and Barclays PLC since October 1, 2014, responsible for overseeing the "development of stakeholder relationships with governments, regulators, the Boards and customers" in the subsidiaries on the African Continent, outside of South Africa.
All Barclays Africa Group managing directors, outside of South Africa, reported directly to her . She serves as the Managing Director at Barclays Bank Zambia Plc. Since April 1, 2017 and serves as the Director since April 2017.
Mrs. Melu served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Standard Chartered Bank Zambia Plc from January 1, 2008 to September 1, 2013.
She was the first Zambian to head of Standard Chartered Bank Zambia Plc since its establishment in Zambia in 1906.
Her responsibilities included management of the Standard Chartered group's development organisations portfolio which includes multilateral and bilateral institutions and Non-Governmental Organisations as well as the group's microfinance initiatives.
Mrs. Melu has been working with Standard Chartered Bank Zambia for over 10 years and served in many markets including Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and the United Kindgom.
She served as Global Head of development organisations for Standard Chartered Bank Group in London. She served as a Director of Standard Chartered Bank Zambia Plc since January 1, 2008.
Mrs. Melu holds an MBA from Henley Management College in the United Kingdom from 1999 to 2002.
