Miss Congo Dorcas Kasinde literally went through a baptism of fire after being crowned Miss Africa 2018.

24-year-old Kasinde was announced as the winner and shortly after the stage sparklers were set off to celebrate the moment.

She was hugging with 2017 winner Gaseangwe Balopi from Botswana when a stray spark set her wig on fire.

The fire was quickly put out. Kasinde later posted a video on the competitions' Twitter account saying she was unharmed and that she's ok.

As the winner of this year's Miss Africa pageant, she was awarded $35,000 in prize money and a sport utility vehicle.
