Ahead of the Gambian 4th edition of the Wah Sa Halat awards, a list of nominees has been announced.

The ceremony will take place on 26 January at the Kairaba Beach Hotel.

The awards which was first held in 2016 was inspired by a radio show, is set to kick start this Sunday.

According to Francis Mendy, a member of the jury, “The categories are 18 and each of them have four to five nominees and is determined by the works of an individual artist over the past years and it must be original content”.

He added that a new category called the People’s Choice will go through the board but is totally to be decided by voting public.

Another new category is the activism award, which will be given to an artist giving back to society using music.
