It has been said that investing in the younger generation secures the future of any nation and there is no better investment than providing quality education for the rising generation.
It is on this foundation of meeting the educational needs of the country that Chrisland University was established. The institution, founded in 2015, has the vision of becoming a world class university renowned for its intellectual freedom, ethical standards in research, community service and the training of outstanding generations of leaders.
Thus, the appointment of Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola as the Vice Chancellor of the institution is a masterstroke by the school management. Prof. Babalola is the first female pharmacist professor of the University of Ibadan, a serial award winner who easily transferred her aura and ‘can-do’ spirit to staffs and students of the institution.
Even though Chrisland University is still teething, it has already recorded a number of laudable achievements since inception. It hosted a conference on ICT recently, where its students did remarkably well by claiming top prizes in the quiz competition and another of its student came up with an innovative farmer-buyer solution at the ICT development programme.
In a related development, the Vice Chancellor of the institution also won the prestigious May & Baker cash prize for her contributions to the Pharmaceutical profession at the 91st Annual National Conference of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) at the end of 2018.
A knowledge of the requirements necessary for the National Universities commission’s (NUC) accreditation of academic programmes shows that endorsing a university’s course(s) is not an ordinary feat. Chrisland University undertook its maiden accreditation recently and got hundred per cent success for the courses considered for accreditation. Evidently, the institution is leaving nothing to chance but is going all out to accomplish excellence.
Without an iota of doubt, one can confidently say that Chrisland University is emerging as one of the leading lights in the league of private universities in Nigeria.
