INEC- Independent National Electoral Commission,  on Thursday released and pasted the name of Senator Buruji Kashamu as the governorship candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the state for the March 2, 2019 governorship election.

Some hours before the commission released the names of the successful gubernatorial candidates in the state, both Kashamu and a member of House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, had embarked on a ward-to-ward tour to woo voters.

Immediately the news got into the town that INEC had pasted Kashamu’s name, supporters of Kashamu went into jubilation.

However, members of the party loyal to Adebutu expressed shock.

But the party insisted that the senator was not a member of the PDP in the state.

A media aide to Adebutu, Afolabi Orekoya, said, “Kashamu should not be happy. We know once the judgements are delivered, everything will be sorted out and INEC will do the needful.”

But Kashamu’s media aide, Austing Oniyokor, said “It is victory for justice;  it is victory  for the rule of law, it is victory for tenacity of purpose.”
