2019-Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday told Ndigbo to vote for him and brighten their chances of producing a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction.
The former Vice President said this when his campaign train berthed in Enugu on Friday.
Abubakar assured that with his running mate, Peter Obi and his wife, Ndigbo will get two third in a PDP presidency.
He noted that it would take a long time for Ndigbo to have this opportunity and urged the South East to seize the opportunity and vote for PDP.
“Now you have VP. From there you go to presidency. Vote for PDP all through,” Atiku said.
The host Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, recalled that Enugu State voted for PDP in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015.
Ugwuanyi said by God’s grace, PDP will win in Enugu during this year’s general elections.
Also speaking, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, said the people of South East have reasons to vote PDP.
According to Ekweremadu, PDP have South East, Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Minister of Power, Minister of Finance, Inspector General of Police, Chief of Army Staff among other choice appointments.
He said since PDP left Ndigbo they were yet to get such positions.
On infrastructure, Ekweremadu gave credit to PDP for Second Niger Bridge and an international airport that allowed Ndigbo access to international community.
Senator Ekweremadu therefore urged Ndigbo to vote PDP for presidency on February 16 and replicate the same feat on March 2, for governorship and state assembly.
Uche Seconds, the PDP National Chairman used the opportunity to call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to prosecute President Buhari and his party, All Progressives Congress (APC), for importing foreign mercenaries from Niger Republic with arms, money and people to come and vote.
