Nigeria 2019 Election- The Director of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign organisation in Anambra State has raised the alarm that officials and members of the party were been harassed and intimidated in the state.
He said former member of the House of Representatives, who represented Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Gabriel Onyenwife, who defected to PDP, had his boys quarters burnt on Wednesday night.
He said Onyenwife, who is the deputy director of the campaign organization, has been under pressure since he dumped APGA.
Also, Ohanezi continued, the member representing Nnewi North and South Federal Constituecy in the House of Representatives had his campaign vehicle burnt also. He blamed those attacks on the rising popularity of PDP in the state.
Also speaking, the chairman of the PDP in the state, Ndubisi Nwobu, queried the fire outbreak at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) container that burnt card readers to be used for next Saturday’s election, wondering how a container that was not connected to electricity could catch fire.
“So how did it catch fire? Who put the fire”, he queried.
Nwobu said the security agents in INEC should be held accountable for the fire incident. Another worry of the campaign organisation is the whereabouts of unclaimed voters’ cards.
The chairman of Atiku-Obi campaign council, Oseloka Henry Obaze, noted that some voters could not see their voters card when they went to designated places to pick their cards.
He said: “Who are in custody of unused cards? We have information that some cards have been missing and their owners can’t see them. Where are the cards”, he queried.
He, however, appealed to Anambra voters to troop out en-masse to vote. He also urged security agents to be up and doing
