Oyo state governorship candidate on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Barr. Sarafadeen Alli has called on the security agents to be at alert, noting that it is not yet uhuru, as it's not uncommon for disgruntled politicians to start to foment trouble once they begin to sense impending defeat.
He made this known in an exclusive interview with CEOAfrica in Ibadan on Saturday.
Barr. Sarafadeen also urged politicians to accept whatever is the verdict of the people barring any malpractice.
He further affirmed that the Zenith Labour Party is not fielding candidates in the Presidential election but will be fielding credible candidates for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The governorship hopeful also expressed optimism on the chances of his party at the polls, noting that with God on their side their chances are very bright.
He also adjudged the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly election in the state to be generally peaceful.
Speaking on the general conduct of the election he said, “So far it’s been okay except for some wards like ward 5, materials arrived as late as 11:30a.m to 12:00 noon and in some cases there were shortage of materials. Aside from that everything has been in order and it’s been peaceful also.
“One good thing about this particular election is the fact that we accredit and vote immediately, that makes it faster instead of going home and come back later to vote which is an improvement on the last election. From what I have also heard from the field, it has been relatively peaceful.”
He stated that going by the late arrival of election materials in some wards, there needs to be improvement in the coming elections adding that elections materials ought to have arrived at collation centers a night before the election.
