OYO Guber election: CP re-assures citizens of safety, call contestants to order

The Oyo state commissioner of Police, CP Shina Olukolu on Thursday reassured the people of the state of their safety in the forth coming gubernatorial and state assembly election.

The CP made this known in a meeting with the state stakeholders at the Eleyele Police Headquater, Ibadan.

According to the CP, the force is ready to carry out their full responsibilities come Saturday, he therefore urged the masses not to entertain any fear, but come out en mass to exercise their civic rights.

He states; “the entire people of OYO state, I want to assure you that the police is ready at all times to carry out their responsibilities, you have no reason whatsoever to fear anything”

Shina also noted that experience of the presidential and National Assembly elections, has enabled the force to increase the number of personnel to be posted in each polling unit, while promising the citizens that with the assistance of their sister agencies, security is sure for Oyo people.

CP Shina, on the other hand, tasked the state political gladiators to admonish their supporters not to raise any commotion before, doing and after the election as the force will not allow anyone, no matter the statues to create any means that will breach the peace of the state.

“Anyone who is thinking of distorting the exercise and creating problems where there in none, such individuals should be ready to face the consequences of their actions when the hand of the law catches up with them.”

He further warned that moving around on the day of election is a problem as restriction will be adequately enforced.

He also warned that no policeman is allowed to follow his principal to their polling unit.

The meeting had in attendance, the Civil Defence, Immigration, NDLEA, Prison Service and the Nigeria Road Safety.
