March 9 Elections- The Lafia Emirate Council in Nasarawa state has called on the people of the state to avoid any act that would lead to a breach of law and order before, during and after the governorship and state house of assembly elections.
A senior kingmaker of Lafia Emirate Council, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi Wakili, who holds the title of Makungiji said, “Lafia Emirate council is calling on the people, especially the youths to abide by the law to enhance peace always.”
According to him, election should not be an automatic ticket to cause violence, as many members have families who belong to different political parties but living together in peace.
He said they should understand that election holds every four year and a winner always emerges.
Alhaji Wakili said the Emirate urged youths to avoid burning tyres as a means of celebrating the victory of their preferred candidate, as such pollutes the environment.
He called on the youth to celebrate the victory of their candidates without blocking the road, burning of tyres or harassing anybody.
The Makungiji enjoined the youth to know that there won’t be development without peace across the state.
