As part of the efforts of Nigeria Police Force towards free and fair governorship and Assembly elections in Nigeria, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in-charge of training and development, Force Headquarters, Abuja, who is also the supervising DIG in-charge of the South/West for the ongoing 2019 elections, DIG Yakubu Jubrin is leading security team to monitor elections across Ibadan and Oyo State in general.

The DIG while fielding questions with pressmen, confirmed that the election is going on smoothly and that he has spoken with the INEC officials in the state and they confirmed that the election is going on peacefully.

The DIG said, “I have been to polling units and I have seen people already voting and there were no issues as people are very orderly and I have talked to the INEC officials, all the equipments particular the card readers are working.

CEOAFRICA reports that there are absolute restrictions of movement as no vehicle was seen along the road.
According to the DIG, “movements have been strictly adhered to, you can see everywhere is very quit, no vehicle at all, the people here are law abiding and that is very impressive”.
CEOAFRICA also reports that the DIG , AIG Zone 11 , AIG Leye Oyebade, Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP Shina Olukolu and other senior police officers where all part of DIG election monitoring team in Ibadan, Eleyele ward 10, polling unit 7 and across the ancient city of Ibadan and Oyo State.
