THE governorship candidate of Accord Party (AP) in the coming election in Osun State, Mr. Niyi Owolade, has said that the party would turn tourism sector in the state to money-yielding venture in order to raise the internally-generated revenue base of the state.

He also said that the party would make human-capacity development a focus of the administration if the party is given the mandate to govern the state in the August 9 governorship poll.

Unfolding the party’s programmes, which include functional education, infrastructural development, human capital development, youth employment and tourism, at a press briefing in Osogbo, the AP flagbearer said the party believes in politics of service, adding that employment of youths through a robust agriculture scheme would be embarked upon on assumption of office.

Owolade, who had served as commissioner in various ministries under some past administrations in the state, said his wide experience in public service and education are some of the essential attributes he would use to lift the state from its present status.

He said: “It is our philosophy that man is the object of development. We believe in investing on our people, especially the youths. We believe that by investing on our youths, we are investing in our future.”

The LP candidate criticised some policies of the current administration, alleging that the government had shortchanged the populace by awarding about 98 per cent of major contracts to non-indigenes.

He also gave the government knocks for alleged capital flight to Lagos, saying the trend had hampered meaningful economic development of the state.

“Our mission is to usher in a new dawn where our people will be able to realise their potentials. Our beloved state is blessed abundantly with human and natural resources and all it needs is a good manager”, he said.
