Aftermath of last week’s fire inferno at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that Kenya Airways claimed to have lost $4 million (Sh349.2 million) in lost business hour.
Speaking regarding the loss, the Chief Executive Officer of the National carrier, Titus Naikumi said the costing could still be much, if hotel accommodation bills are factored in. The airline now operates 90 per cent of its capacity, up from 35 percent as at Friday.
Sources states that the airline has resumed all its domestic flights currently being operated from the domestic departures side after destruction of the international arrivals and departure side the fire.
Meanwhile, APA insurance, the body which JKIA is insured, has started making arrangements on processing the claim adding that KAA will be paid even for lost business hours once investigations are successfully concluded.
Normal activities has resumed at the international airport.
