The usual fasting period that runs for 29 to 30 days every year in the Muslim calendar, conventionally known as Ramadan comes with communion with God, purification, consecration, diligence and responsibility.
Ramadan is accorded as a month of honour from Allah being a very special month in which he has blessed.
The Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba Saliu Adetunji gave an eye-opening nugget on what Ramadan is, and how effective it is to those who believe in its efficiency.
Oba Adetunji while feeding questions from CEOAfrica reiterated the benefit of Ramadan, in which he affirmed that not everybody can partake in its belief.
He said: “the benefit of Ramadan is that it is not everyone who can partake in it.
“It is only those who God permits to partake in it.”
He moved further with the clarification that the month of Ramadan has the accompaniment of blessing, honour and unity, in which one should not take with levity.
He said: “The month of Ramadan is very important. Because of all the twelve months in the year, the only month of Ramadan surpasses the rest of the month.”
“This fast that we partake in makes us one, and we receive the blessings from God,” he added.
In his admonition, he urged that “everyone should partake in this fast so that we can get the benefit and blessings, which God will help us to get the blessings”.
The significant of Ramadan cannot be overemphasized due to its relativity to humanity.
This was made known by the Chief Imam of Ibadan, Sheikh Abdul Ganiy Abubakri Agbotomokekere, after the Jumat service at Oja’ba Ibadan.
Sheikh Agbotomokekere revealed that the significance of Ramadan touches every aspect of humanity, in which its core observation is towards the acknowledgement of God.
He said: “the significances of Ramadan period are many and they include;
“The one who does not serve God will begin to serve God,
“The one who does not do God’s will begin to do God’s will”.
“And its significance to humanity is that we must act well to one another,” he added.
The month of Ramadan is said to be a season of sober reflection.
Oba Adetunji alongside Sheikh Agbotomokekere urged Muslim brethren that the good and responsible habit people imbibe during the Ramadan period should be maintained overtime.
