Chelsea forward, Olivier Giroud, has said that he was overcome by the emotions of netting in the Europa League final, as he did not plan celebrating against Arsenal.
The French man, who left the Gunners to sign for the Blues in January 2018, opened scoring in the second half, heading home Emerson’s cross.
Pedro and Hazard (two) added more goals in the second half as well, as Chelsea slammed their London counterpart, 4-1 in Baku on Wednesday night.
Speaking after the match, the erstwhile Arsenal forward paid tribute to Arsenal and claimed the club had changed his life.
He said: “It was a good final and we have been better, more efficient in the second half.
“I am very proud, this team deserved to win something. It was special for me, I am happy for this club. It’s my second trophy in two years.
“These two clubs changed my life; they gave me the opportunity to play in the Premier League.
“I didn’t want to celebrate against Arsenal but I am so proud to win this trophy with Chelsea.
“When you give me the chance to get game time I always try my best. It was our second target to win the Europa League after finishing in the top four so I feel blessed.”
