CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Juba, the capital of South Sudan that President Salva Kiir has admitted that he authorized the appointed Justice Minister, Telar Ring Deng to approve the $600 million on behalf of the government, apparently to acquire a land for the National Security Services.

Sources disclosed that this statement credited to the president will help to clear the Justice Minister of involvement in financial scandal following eyebrow which was raised by the South Sudan Parliament’s appointment committee as they question the latter’s involvement in the huge transaction.

“The president has confirmed authorizing Telar Ring Deng to act on behalf of the government. He has written to the committee and the team is studying the constitutionality of the authorization because constitutional post holders including advisors are not supposed to be approving any money,” a member of the vetting committee disclosed.

Furthermore, the committee is working to examine the authenticity of Deng’s academic credentials and competence for the key government position. This was because information on his personal resume does not reconcile with academic credentials.

“There is disparity in the information on his Curriculum Vitae (CV). He told the committee that he has a law degree and had been a judge during a war in the SPLA liberated areas, but the academic documents show a degree of Arts. The documents also do not have dates on which the award was made. No transcript and other relevant information,” the legislator said.
