The department of Microbiology, Chrisland University, Abeokuta, set an excellent pace, as it held the first-ever departmental week in the school with a potpourri of activities involving the HOD, lecturers, staff and students of the department.
The weeklong events revealed both educational and social lifestyle of the department, bringing to the fore, their capacity to learn, entertain, socialize and recreate with a perfect blend of academic innovativeness.
The department marked the week in a grand style with special activities which include; excursion to International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NIST), and University of Ibadan to see centres of excellence in microbiology and biotechnology.
The excursion was indeed an impactful one for the students as the places visited, reshaped their mindsets and prepared them for a better future.
Other activities that added colour to the ‘departmental Week’ were lectures and demonstration on waste to wealth, antimicrobial resistance, dinner, dance and awards of excellence.
The Vice Chancellor of the great citadel of learning, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola, however, lauded the Head of department, Prof. Mrs. Akintokun, the lecturers and students of the department for their exceptional performance, exceeding the norms and setting the pace for other department to follow.
“We commend the HOD, Prof. Mrs. Akintokun, the lecturers and students for this exceptional performance. This challenged other departments and we now have more of such coming up”, Prof. Babalola said, while interacting with CEOAfrica.
