As part of her efforts towards making Chrisland University a leading institution in Africa, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola has moved to host students from Liberia, extends its services beyond Nigeria, by collaborating with international universities as well as building leaders from different countries in Africa and the world at large.

Professor Babalola made this heartwarming move in a chat with CEOAfrica, at the just concluded International Pan-African conference on Challenges of Growth and sustainable development in Africa, held in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

Professor Babalola attested that the Conference has indeed projected the institution to the whole world, hence the university will not relent efforts to throw it doors wide open for international students to enroll, as it missions and vision is anchored on building young intellectual African leaders.

She further stated that the next move for Chrisland University is to engage other institutions, within and outside Nigeria, to partner with them in accordance with its mission, to see that the nations of the world benefit from the intellectual radiance of the great citadel of learning.

She said: “Before the conference started, I told myself and my staff, we should keep our eyes and ears open, we must listen to every presentation, see how we can collaborate with people from other institutions within Nigeria and outside, from every other countries, we’ll think of how we can partner with them and fulfil our vision and expand Chrisland University.

“I’m already setting out network on how, for instance Chrisland University host Liberia students here…There is a possibility, so I’m already discussing that, and that is what will make Chrisland University a really international University, if we can have students from outside Nigeria.

“When we talk of internationalization, what it means is that a university should have members of staff who are not Nigerians as well as students who are not Nigerians, which means the institutions is now extending its service beyond Nigeria,” the visionary VC stated.

The amiable Vice Chancellor, however assured Africans that Chrisland University will speed up its race  forthwith in tackling the challenges listed by the conference keynote speakers, which include high level of illiteracy, high level of unemployment, poor economical growth, political self-centered policy, etc., by not only harnessing the different topics that was treated , but also engages its students into more practical research and tactical means of achieving a sustainable development for Africa.

Earlier, during her press briefing prior to the symposium, the erudite scholar , expressed optimism that with the conference as one of the institution’s achievements for the past years, Chrisland University will produce graduates with not only Bachelor’s degree(BSc)) , but young intellectuals with sound morals, best entrepreneurs and incomparable leaders.

“Our mandate is to nurture minds that will go out there as leaders that will provide solutions in this 21st century, people that will take responsibility.

“The conference falls in line with Chrisland University’s missions and visions and also with my laid down goals as a Vice Chancellor. In Chrisland University, our goal is to ensure that our students graduate with not just Bachelor degree, but with second degree, either in entrepreneurship or leadership.

“We are focusing and building them academically, preparing them in a way that they can meet or solve challenges that we have in Africa or elsewhere, and we are empowering them by training them in entrepreneurship and leadership.

“For instance, many private universities shy away of having students Union, or student’s representative council, but we felt we should begin to train them on how to learn how to negotiate as good leaders,” she stated.
