92-year-old Tunisia’s president recovers, leaves hospital

Tunisian ailing President Beji Caid Essebsi has been discharged from hospital on Monday, July 1.

The 92-year-old president was taken to his residence at the presidential palace in Carthage and thanked the medical team at the military hospital and everyone concerned about his health, the presidency said in a statement.

His son, Hafiz, said on social media that his father is in “normal health” and will return to work in the coming days.

Recall, CEOAfrica on Thursday, reported that Essebsi was taken to a military hospital in the capital, Tunis, his second such visit in less than a week.

Essebsi, who took office in December 2014, is due to step down when his term ends this November.
