Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi has named a new head of the country's top Court of Cassation who took official oath before the president on Saturday, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.
Judge Abdullah Amin Mahmoud Asr replaced as the top court chief his predecessor Magdy Mahmoud Taha who was honored by the president upon leaving the post, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, Sisi appointed a new chief of the Administrative Prosecution Authority and honored the former one, the presidency said.
The appointments came in implementation of amendments in some articles of the judicial authority law, approved by the Egyptian parliament in April 2017.
The amendments allow the president to appoint chiefs of a number of judicial authorities based on a list of recommended names provided by each authority's board.
