From Cairo, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that protests staged by Pro-Morsi Muslim Brotherhood supporters has turned out to be bloody, as Egyptian security forces stormed the two massive makeshift camps of the deposed leader, bulldozing tents and escorting away hundreds of protesters.
This act led to many casualties being recorded as protesters refused to leave, even in the face of bulldozers and surrounded by the injured and dead.
It was said that the incident is the bloodiest in the six-week old campaign against the overthrowing of Morsi’s government by the military.
Sources disclosed that more than 43 dead bodies were counted with scores injured as they are being treated at a make-shift hospital littered by blood of victims.
Furthermore, it was gathered that smoke covered the air as busts of rapid gunfire continued to fill the air, although it was unclear who had the weapons and who was attacking one another.
However, the Interior Ministry said security forces did not use gunfire and instead were attacked by "terrorist elements" inside the camps.
A statement released from the ministry reads, "Egyptian security forces are committed to the utmost self-restraint in dealing with the protesters.”
Both the Muslim Brotherhood and the military maintained that they don’t support violence in any form.
Police backed by bulldozers and armored cars, fired tear gas at the protest sites with footage showing smoke rising over the protest site and military helicopters circling in the sky. Some 35 protesters have been arrested for having gas cans or cylinders.
