Oyo Police Command arrests man for killing father, 39 other suspects for kidnapping, murder and armed robbery

The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Police Command on Thursday paraded a 32-year-old man, Ibrahim Isiaka for engaging his 72-year-old father, Busari Isiaka in a fist scuffle, and in the process strangled him.

The State Commissioner of Police, Shina T. Olukolu paraded Ibrahim Isiaka and other 39 suspects over alleged kidnapping, murder, cultism and armed robbery at the Command’s Headquarter, Eleyele in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The paraded suspects who were arrested at different locations and times, were found in possession of items such as knives, hammer, handsets, charms, live cartridges, cutlasses, locally-made guns, phones, three cars and cash.

While parading the suspects, Olukola said Ibrahim Isiaka, age 32, murdered his 72-year-old father on November 11 at about 12pm at No. 5, Alagbaka area of Ashi in Ibadan.

He said “On 11th November, 2019 at about 1800hr, information was received at Ashi Divisional Police Headquarters revealed that about 1200hrs, one Ibrahim Isiaka ‘m’ age 32 years engaged his father, one Busari Isiaka ‘m’ 72 years in a fist scuffle at No. 5 Alagbaka Area of Ashi, Ibadan and in the process strangled him.

Ibrahim Isiaka ‘m’ after committing the evil act, called his two brothers, one Taoheed Isiaka ‘m’ and Muritala Isiaka ‘m’ and narrated the ordeal to them. His two brothers immediately raced to their father’s house and prepared his corpse for burial without reporting to the Police to conceal the heinous crime perpetrated by their brother, Ibrahim Isiaka. Their father Busari Isiaka ‘m’ was hurriedly buried the same day. Ibrahim Isiaka ‘m’ was thereafter arrested along with his two brothers. He confessed to the commission of the crime while his two brothers also confessed to have buried their father the same day to prevent the Police from arresting Ibrahim Isiaka as advised by some people”.

In his statement, Ibrahim said, “My father always drinks and most times drinks to stupor. I always warn him because I don’t like it. But that unfortunate day, while we were arguing on the same issue, I mistakenly pushed him and he fell down from the staircase”.

“I immediately informed my brothers and we buried him that same day” he said.

Meanwhile, Olukolu also paraded three suspected one chance operatives whose activities falls between Ogbomoso and Ilorin while the sum of N60,500 was recovered from them.

The Commissioner said, “The suspects, Saheed Mohammed 38, Chukwu Esther 30 and Adenike Olubayo 33 with other two members deceived one Mrs. Mary Ojo to exchange her seat in a taxi for conveniences and as she was trying to adjust herself when she alighted from the car, one of the suspects had removed the sum of N100,000 only from Mary Ojo’s purse and replaced it with a jotter and the driver sped off”.

“She immediately raised an alarm and they were pursued by motorcyclists and passers-by leading to their arrest and subsequent attack by angry mobs” he said.

One of the suspects, Chukwu Esther ‘f’ 30 said she was called to joined the group that money would come out of the operation.

“I was called to joined them and was told that money would come out it. We have done it for the first, second and the third time, they caught us and were beaten before the police came to rescued us” she said.

Esther advised other people in such act to stop it and that there is no gain in it. She however lamented her regrets towards her crime.

The Police Commissioner stated that the police under his watch were resolutely determined to constantly combing the state of any form of criminal activities before, during and after the ‘ember months.

Olukolu said that the security architecture of the state was being constantly re-jigged with operational strategies being reviewed and efforts to combat crimes at all times put in place.

He however urged the people of the state to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of molestation and reports any suspicious movement around their environment to the police.
