David Omojola and 5 AIGs promoted to DIGs

THE Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of six Assistant Inspectors General of Police and two Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors General of Police and 17 other Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police.

The AIGs promoted to DIGs are David O. Omojola, former AIG Zone 11 Osogbo, Dan’Azumi Job Doma, former  force secretary, Mamman Ibrahim Tsafe, former AIG Zone 2 Lagos,   Solomon E. Arase, former AIG Force Intelligence and AIG Christopher K. Katso, former moderator, Nigeria Institute of Police and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos,  AIG Zone 5 Benin City, Salihu Argungu Hashidu,

The commissioner of police who were promoted to the position of the DIG are CP Hilary Opara, former CP Bayelsa State and CP Sotonye L. Wakama, former CP Anti-terrorist Squad.

Those promoted to the rank of AIGs are Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu, Umaru Manko, Ambrose Aisibor, Adebayo Ajileye, Joel Theophilus, Wilfred Obute,A. Abakasanga, Jubril  Adeniji, Ibrahim Maishanu, Godfrey  Okeke, and  Chintua Amajor-Onu, Felix  Uyanna, Lawal Tanko, Usman Gwarry, Kalafite Adeyemi, Yahaya Ardo, Irimiya Yerima, Olufemi Adenaike and Patrick  Dokumor.

All the appointments are with effect from August 20, 2014.

A statement from the Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ferdinand Ekpe, in Abuja on Wednesday, said the promotions were necessary to fill the vacancies created by recent retirements and promotions in the Force and to re-invigorate and reposition of Zonal and other Commands headed by AIGS, to help tackle the country’s current security challenges.

The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mike  Okiro who congratulated the officers, urged them to brace up to the responsibilities of their new office, noting that the Commission is working assiduously towards formulating and implementing policies aimed at enhancing discipline and productivity in the Nigeria Police Force.

Meanwhile, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba,  promised to expand the capacity of the Police Hospital at Dei-Dei Barracks, Abuja, to enable it meet the health needs of police personnel and other members of the public.
