The Government of Ghana has lifted coronavirus induced restrictions on some tourist sites in Ghana.

President Nana Akufo-Addo made the announcement on Sunday night, July 26, 2020.

He was delivering the 14th update on the coronavirus situation in Ghana.

Announcing the second phase of the easing of restrictions, the President says tourist centres in Ghana can now reopen.

However, he said beaches, night clubs, cinemas and parks shall remain closed until further notice.

Meanwhile, he said coronavirus related restrictions on the transport sector in Ghana have been lifted.

He said going forward, transport operators including domestic airlines, commercial buses and taxis can now operate to full capacity.

Transport operators for several weeks had to reduce the number of passengers to commute due to the social distancing protocol.

But President Akufo-Addo says they can now commute passengers to full capacity.

However, he cautioned them to ensure adherence to safety protocols such as wearing of face masks.

Director General of the Ghana Health Service Dr Patrick Aboagye says the rate of coronavirus spread in public transport is lower than in other areas.
