The 39 foreigners, who were, at the weekend, arrested by a joint team of policemen, immigration officers and health workers in Lagos State have been released.

We gathered that the foreigners were released after it was confirmed that they were musicians and that they were in transit on their way to Asia.

No one, however, could ascertain if they were examined for Ebola virus disease before they were released by officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

According to the immigration, the arrested foreigners were travelling to an unnamed Asian country to ply their trade when they stopped over in Nigeria, after reportedly acquiring transit visa to Nigeria.

An immigration source, who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, said “they were released early on Sunday, after we found out that their stay in Nigeria is legal.”

He stated further that “they are musicians. We made copies of their documents. They even have transit visa from the Ministry of Arts and Culture. We released them when we found out that their stay is legal.”
