Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola, AU Laureate and the current  Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University has publicly declared her support for  Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala in the on-going race for the Director General position of the World Trade Organisation.

In a press release made available to CEOAfrica, Babalola called on women all over the world, to show support to the Nigerian former Minister who has served in various capacities in the world and has proven herself to be an expert in the field of trade, governance and economics.

According to her, WTO has never had an African lead the organization before and now is the time for an African woman to be a trail blazer. “Among all of the candidates, she stands out for her depth of leadership and her experience both in the field of trade and public services. This is needed to lead the World Trade Organisation through this COVID-19 era of economic recession and vaccine supply.  We all should rally around her.

“She is a world acclaimed economist who sits on the Boards of many international organisations. Her effectiveness in handling the positions she occupy is a reputation that precedes her. She is a beacon to the female gender and deserves all our support,” she added.

This show of support for the Nigerian WTO candidate comes at a time of overwhelming show of support from Nigerians of all calibre, home and abroad.
