Musicians, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, and Runtown, led the much talked about protest in Lagos State against police brutality and extortion.
The protest which took place in the Lekki area of Lagos on Thursday, had youths carrying placards with inscriptions like 'Enough is Enough, "We are all victims" and chanting 'End SARS'
Meanwhile, In an Instagram live chat before the protest, Falz, son of Femi Falana,the human right activist, said, “No backing down. We move. The police are already there, waiting for us but we are not here to cause trouble. It is a peaceful protest. Coming through".
Both entertainers however, went on to advice the protesters against violence as they engaged security operatives who attempted to disrupt the protest.
The protesters, who gathered at Lekki toll gate, marched to Onikan and the Appeal Court through the Nigerian Law School, Lagos.
The protesters are seeking the dissolution of the FSARS unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
There had been an earlier announcement that the #ENDSARS protest would be held across Lagos for three days, starting from Wednesday; the police in Lagos had even dispersed some youths who arrived at the venue of the protest earlier.
CEO Africa' correspondent gathered that while dispersing some of the protesters who arrived at the venue of the protest, Lekki toll gate opposite Oriental Hotel, around 09.15 am; the policemen seized their placards and allegedly assaulted some of the protesters.
One of the protesters told CEO Africa, “They attacked us. They slapped me, they tore our clothes.”
