Gunmen have killed a former Director of Works at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Hassan Jama’are yesterday.

It was gathered that the gunmen attacked and murdered Jama’are around 10pm as he drove into his residence in the Tudun Salmanu area of Bauchi metropolis.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the murder in a telephone interview.

Wakil explained that “the gunmen had trailed him and when he got to his house and was about to open the gate, they attacked him and shot at him at a close range. They also seized his Honda Accord car keys and drove it away.”

He added that Jama’are managed to crawl into the house and his family raised an alarm which attracted neighbours to the scene.

“The Police was informed and he was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor,” the PPRO said.

He informed CEO Africa’s correspondent that Police operatives have been drafted to the area while the attackers are still being trailed by the Police in order to apprehend them.
