The Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Abia South, senatorial district, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has vowed to remain in the front line for the agitation of justice, equity and fairness for the Southeast in national affairs.
He argued that he would not give up the agitation for the people of the southeast zone to accord equal opportunities with their counterparts in other parts of the country.
Abaribe said this after he was presented with a Legacy Merit Award as the “Most Outstanding Performing Southeast Senator in 2020,” by the Imo state council of the NUJ, in Owerri, on Wednesday.
According to him, the agitation by Ndigbo for an end to their treatment as second-class citizens was a legitimate one adding that the quest for a president of Igbo extraction was non -negotiable.
The federal lawmaker who was represented by one of his aides, Chief Chijioke Ukoh, said, “The Legacy Award is an appreciation and the reward for good work is more work, please continue to be fearless, objective and constructive in the discharge of your duties as the watchdog of the society in line with the ethics of your noble profession.”
The host Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who spoke through his Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, announced plans by his administration to institute an annual merit award for outstanding journalists in the state beginning from 2021.
