Ibadan Politician, Aborode,shot dead

A former House of Representatives Candidate under the platform of Accord Party at the 2015 general election, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Kunfayakun Green Treasure Limited, Dr. Fatai Aborode has been reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen in the Igangan area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Dr. Aborode who was said to have been shot dead near his farm, which is situated along Apodun Village, in Igangan Ibarapa North West Local Council Development Authority part of Oyo State on Friday was reportedly to have visited his farm alongside his manager before the sad occurrence.

Fatai, a politician cum farmer, was gathered to have been shot dead by unknown gunmen suspected to be a Fulani herdsmen while leaving his farm premises at around 4pm with his manager on a motorbike.

The incident according to a source said, “suspected Fulani herdsmen just killed a former House of Representatives Candidate of Accord Party during the 2015 general election in Igangan, Ibarapa North West Local Council Development Authority, Dr. Fatai Aborode.

“He was attacked by the hoodlums on his farm, he was macheted severally and died while being rushed to a nearby hospital, he went to farm with one person on a bike, and on their way coming from farm they met the Fulani men, the other person escaped.” The source stressed.

Dr. Fatai’s manager was said to have escaped gunshots and fled away from the scene of the incident.

Fatai was said to have gave up the ghost in between Tapa and Aiyete community while being rushed to an hospital in Igboora, in a process to save his life from the injuries sustained from the attack of the hoodlums.

The sad incident happened less than 24 hours of an agric stakeholders meeting that was held in Ibadan, the State Capital.

The meeting was purposely organized with the aim of finding solution to incessant attack by herdsmen on farmers in that part of the State.

As at the time of filling this report, efforts made to get police reactions was fruitfulness, as calls and text messages sent to the State Police Public Relation Officer, SP. Olugbenga Fadeyi were not responded to.
