The entire management, staff and students of Chrisland University, Abeokuta has sent their heartfelt Christmas warm wishes to the University Chancellor, Board of Trustees, Nigerians, Africa and the world at large.

The wishes were made during the University’s annual Christmas Concert and Carol that was held on the 17th December, 2020 at the University auditorium.

Speaking with CEOAFRICA in an interview after the event, the University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Chinedum Peace Babalola ceased the opportunity to wish the Chancellor, members of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, staff and students of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, a merry Christmas.

“I cease this opportunity to say merry Christmas to the Chancellor and founder of Chrisland University; High Chief Dr. (Mrs) Winifred Awosika, and her family, the Board of Trustees, the Governing Council, the staff and students of Chrisland University. May you experience peace, love, joy this season. Merry Christmas”

Speaking further in the interview, the VC sent her goodwill message to the Chancellor of the University, Africa and the world at large, noting that people should embrace joy, and be at peace with all men, while stressing that there are lots of crises already in the world, starting from the home front, the nation and everywhere which requires a peaceful coexistence in the country.

“The message that came to my heart this morning is from the book of Luke 2:13-14, where Jesus birth was announced, and the angels started singing, and they said “Glory be to God in the highest, peace on earth to men of Goodwill.”  The way it came to me is that we should relieve that time, let us embrace joy, that joy that Jesus brought, we should relieve it. Remember that Jesus came and embrace that Joy… So, another message I have is peace. Jesus said that let there be peace on earth. This is a time when we have a lot of crises, it could be from home, from the nation, from everywhere. My message is a message of peace. I prophesy peace to every life, every family, every home and let us be at peace with one another. Let it be a time of forgiveness, a time of peace; peaceful coexistence in this country…”

Speaking with CEOAFRICA also, one of the lecturers in the University, Mr. Kunle Alaye from the department of Political Science and International studies explained that Christmas is a celebration of Christ’s birth and a period where Christians dine and wine and reflect on the on the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, while some families use the opportunity to come together reflect on so many things. Meanwhile, he noted that Christmas is a long-aged celebration that is celebrated globally even before the birth of his great grandfathers.

“Christmas has been there before my great grand fathers were born, while my father was born, and even while I came into this world. Christmas is a long-aged celebration. It is globally celebrated. It is a significant celebration in the lives of Christians, and most times, towards the end of the year like this, on the 25th December of every year, Christians gather in every part of the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Christians use this period to jo-jo, to dine and wine together and reflect on the grace of Our lord Jesus. At the same time, some families use the opportunity to come together, to meet, and reflect on so many things. It’s a wonderful celebration, and quite memorable. It’s a celebration even at that particular season, you feel the impact, you feel the season even without telling. It’s quite a crucial celebration in the lives of Christians.”

The lecturer however encouraged Christians to reflect on the good gestures that Jesus Christ demonstrated, and enjoined the entire world to emulate such.
