President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Lieutenant-Colonel Yusuf Muktar Dodo, the Academy Adjutant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), as his new Aide-de-Camp (ADC).

Dodo is taking over from Colonel Mohammed Lawal Abubakar, who is proceeding to resume a promotion course, after which he would be promoted to the Brigadier-General rank, along with some others.

Though there has not been any official statement concerning it, a source who pleaded anonymous, from the presidential villa confirmed the appointment.

“It’s true, the President’s ADC is going for a course, he’s due for the rank of Brigadier-General. He’s due to leave sometime in February, but a replacement has already been shortlisted”, the source said.

Another military source on Saturday also confirmed the development in Abuja, saying “I already called him to congratulate him. The news is real.”

The Aide-de-Camp (ADC) is always ready at all times to lay his life for the President. He follows the President everywhere he goes, ensuring his safety. He also helps the president carry his personal item, stay behind him, escorts him, opens door for him, and stands at attention to salute the Commander-In-Chief.
