Chrisland University signs partnership deal with New Horizon Company to train staff, students on ICT, entrepreneurship, others

 Chrisland University has signed a partnership deal with the New Horizon Company to train its staff and students on global Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), artificial intelligence, e-business, entrepreneurship and other programmes.

The both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the university on Tuesday, 2nd February, 2021.

The Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola, led the team of the University into signing the partnership deal.  

The Chief Operating Officer of New Horizons Limited, Dr Bolaji Olaoye, disclosed that the partnership will add three major benefits to the institution.

He said, “The first benefit of the partnership is that the company’s training would empower Chrisland University’s students to meet up with the forth industrial revolution.  

“Nigeria has been missing out in the previous first to third industrial revolutions, but this fourth industrial revolution, which is driven by graphics, robotics, automation and so on, we must not be left behind.

He added that the university’s students need to be properly equipped with necessary skill-sets irrespective of their academic disciplines.  

“With these skills when acquired, our graduates can be wealth creators and employers of labour. The initiative aligns with the vision of the institution,” he stated.

Giving the second benefit of the collaboration, Bolaji said that the partnership would boost the brand image of the University, adding that the results of the training would enhance research.

In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Chrisland University, Prof. Peace Babalola, revealed that her administration is focused on ensuring the students receive the best training in order to make innovators.

Also, “the administration’s goal is to ensure that the students graduated with more than one certificate” she stated.

Babalola admitted that the collaboration with New Horizon Company is one way of achieving her goals for Chrisland University.        

She added that “The partnership is also in line with the institution’s vision, which aims at becoming a world-class University renown for intellectual freedom, ethical standards, research, community service and outstanding training of a new generation of leaders, and our mission which includes innovation and entrepreneurship.

“It is with great pleasure that Chrisland University is already keying into the fourth industrial revolution.”

The VC further explained that that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is basically driven to produce new generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, who are trained to be employers of labours by the institution.    

The AU Laureate further revealed that Chrisland University is set to introduce new programmes into the curriculum, disclosing that “the institution has written NUC for the approval of new nomenclatures like Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Machine Learning, Physics electronics and robotics to be included into our programmes.”

Speaking in an Exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA, the erudite Professor said “I am excited taking the move because New Horizon Programmes tally with the vision I have for Chrisland University as well as the Vision and Mission of the institution.

 “Our students at the end of the training will be certified. This complements that Chrisland University’s graduates would be awarded more than one certificate.”

When asked the role of the partnership on Chrisland University becoming a world-class institution, she stated that “The skills that would be acquired and the certifications that would be given to the students, there are chances that they would be given international jobs even while in Nigeria.

“If they are employable by international organisations, the name of Chrisland University will be there in the global space,” stressing that the institution’s graduates are able to attract international job.

“Consequently, it will attract more students to the learning institution,” she stated.

The partnership ceremony had In attendance the team of the University: Vice Chancellor, Chrisland University, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola;  the Registrar, Mr. David A. Olowola; Acting Bursar, Mr. Emmanuel Adejuwon; Director of Academic and Physical Planning, Prof. Adegoke; Director, Centre for Entrepreneur, Dr. Babatunde, and the team members of the New Horizons company: Mr Victor, the University Operations, and Dr. Bolaji Olaoye, Chief Operating Officer.
