Obasanjo visits injured son in Jos

There was heavy security presence along the Barki Ladi, Heipang, Mararaban Jamare and old airport junction roads all in Jos metropolis on Saturday, following the visit of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the Plateau State capital to see his wounded son Lt. Col. Adeboye.

Adeboye, Commander, 135 Field Engineering Regiment of the Nigerian Army in the Plateau State capital, was injured during an ambush by Boko Haram insurgents in Maiduguri, Borno State, early last week while leading a Platoon.

Sunday Independent gathered that Adeboye is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed location in the Tin city.

The former president flew into Jos at about 5.45pm.

Our correspondent gathered that the former president arrived the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang, where he was received by the Deputy Governor of Plateau State Ambassador Ignatius Longjan and Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba. Also at the airport to welcome him were security chiefs, including the Commander of the Special Task Force on Jos crisis, Major General David Eniete, the state commissioner of Police and as well the director of SSS in the state.

The ex-President, Longjan and the security chiefs left for Obasanjo’s guest house along Wase close in Jos Tin city, where his son was said to recuperating from the gunshot wound he sustained during the ambush.

Sunday independent also gathered that on arrival at his Wase guest house, he was greeted by the younger Obasanjo who rushed out meet to receive him.
