Ogbeche scores Igboun, Dauda hit hat-trick in Denmark and Holland; Babatunde gets standing ovation on return; Mba sees red;

ENGLAND

John Mikel Obi (Chelsea): Nigerian midfielder John Mikel Obi was not listed for Chelsea who opened up a three-point gap at the top of the table with a 4-2 win against Swansea and maintain their 100% start to the Premier League season. Mikel who featured for the Super Eagles mid week has made two substitute appearance for the Blues this season.

Victor Moses, Osaze Odemwingie (Stoke City): Super Eagles winger Victor Moses made his second start for Stoke City who slumped to a lone goal defeat to Leicester City on Saturday.

Brown Ideye, Victor Anichebe (Westbrom): Westbrom record signing Brown Ideye was handed his second EPL star for the Baggies who got thumped 2-0 by Everton on Saturday. he has played three games this season while his compatriot, Anichebe was not listed for action due to a hernia problem.

Kenneth Omeruo (Middlesbrough): Nigerian defender Kenneth Omeruo was not listed for action for Middlesbrough who pipped Huddersfield Town 2-1. He has played three games so far this season.

Odion Ighalo (Watford): Former Olympic international Odion Ighalo played for 23 minutes in Watford’s lone goal defeat to Charlton Athletic whose unbeaten start in the Championship continued. He replaced Lewis McGugan in the 77th minute.

ITALY

Ogenyi Onazi (SS Lazio): Nigerian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi was benched for 90 minutes in Lazio’s 3-0 win over Cesena on Sunday. Onazi who played 29 games and scored once last season for the Biancocolests is yet to feature this season in the Serie A.

Joel Obi (Inter Milan): Super Eagles midfielder Joel Obi was an unused substitute for Inter who hammered Sassuolo 7-0 at the San Siro stadium. he is yet to feature this season.

Nnamdi Oduamadi (Crotone): Nigerian winger Nnamdi Oduamadi was not listed for Crotone who were forced to a 1-1 draw at home to Carpi. Oduamadi has played one Serie b game for his side currently languishing in the 21st position.

FRANCE

Vincent Enyeama (Lille), Elderson Echiejile (AS Monaco): Nigerian stand in skipper Vincent Enyeama kept his third clean sheet of the season in goal for Lille who defeated Nantes 2-0 on Sunday. It was his fifth start for Lille this season.

Sunday Mba (CA Bastia):Super Eagles midfielder Sunday Mba was red carded while in action for his French club CA Bastia in a National League game in Friday’s 1-1 draw against Chambly. The AFCON 2013 hero was given the marching order by the referee in the 73rd when his team was down by a lone goal.

This is Mba’s second red card since he joined CA Bastia last season. He scored four goals in 16 games last season, but has yet to score in the seven-week-old National League, which is the French third division.

Elderson Echiejile (AS Monaco): Nigerian defender Elderson Echiejile missed his side’s 2-1 loss to Lyon after he suffered a knock on international duty. The NIgerian left back has played once this season.

GERMANY

Chinedu Obasi (Schalke 04): Super Eagles winger Chinedu Obasi was benched for all 90 minutes as Schalke were dealt another huge blow in their abysmal start to the campaign with a 4-1 defeat away to Borussia Monchengladbach. The 28 year old star is yet to feature this season in the Bundesliga.

Anthony Ujah (Cologne): Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah played for 77 minutes before been hurled off in Cologne’s goalless draw away to Paderborn. Ujah has scored once in three Bundesliga games.

SCOTLAND

Efe Ambrose (Celtic): Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose played all 90 minutes for Celtic who survived a spirited Aberdeen fight-back to gain their first win in five games. It was his fifth start of the SPl

ISREAL

Austin Ejide,John Ogu (Hapeol Be’er Sheva): Nigeria international John Ogu posted a man-of-the-match display on his home debut for Hapeol Be’er Sheva who were forced to a 1-1 draw with Beitar Jerusalem on Saturday. The 26 year old midfielder joined the Israeli club on a year’s deal after he mutually ended his contract with Portuguese club Academica de Coimbra. His compatriot Austin Ejide who was in goal kept his first clean sheet of the season.

Harmony Ikande, Benjamin Francis (Hapoel Tel Aviv): NIgerian duo of Harmony Ikande and Benjamin Francis were on from start to finish for their team who defeated Maccabi Netanya by a lone goal in Sunday’s Ligat ha’Al opener.

Portugal

Obiora Nwankwo (Academica): Nigerian midfelder Obiora Nwankwo was replaced in the 70th minute in Academica’s lone goal defeat away to Boavista on Sunday. He was replaced by Ivanildo Soares in the encounter.

DENMARK

Sylvester Igboun ( FC Midtjylland): Nigerian forward Sylvester Igboun scored an hat trick for FC Midtjylland who defeated OB Odense 3-2 on Friday to make him the joint top scorer in the seven-week-old league in Denmark with five goals. Igboun opened the scoring in the 42nd minute to give the host 1-0 lead. He made it a brace in the 56th minute to restore his side’s lead at 2-1. He then struck from the penalty spot in the 90th minute to earn his side three points and complete his hat-trick. Last season, the 24-year-old striker scored 10 goals in 28 games.

TURKEY

Michael Eneramo (Istanbul Basakisehir): Nigeria forward Michael Eneramo fired blanks on his debut for his new Turkish club Istanbul Basakisehir on Saturday against his former team Karabukspor. The 28 year old striker was introduced into the fray in the 61st minute for French forward Jeremy Perbet. Recall, he scored a goal in four games for Besiktas and four goals for Karabukspor in 16 games last season.

GREECE

Dele Adeleye (OFI Crete): Nigeria defender Dele Adeleye was the villain for his Greek club OFI Crete as he scored an own goal in a 3-0 loss to Olympiakos.
Adeleye turned the ball into his team’s net in the 22nd minute to give champions Olympiakos a 1-0 lead on Saturday. Crete are 11th on the table with three points from as many matches.

UKRAINE

Michael Babatunde (FC Volyn); Nurudeen Orelesi (Metalurh Zaporizhya): Super Eagles World cup star Michael Babatunde returned to action for his club FC Volyn in their 3-0 home win over Metalurh Zaporizhya who handed a Nurudeen Orelesi his first start of the season on Sunday. The 21 year old highly rated winger who suffering a wrist fracture to at the FIFA World Cup with the Super Eagles replaced Redvan Memeshevin the 64th minute of the win.

Hungary

Ikenne King (Honved Budapest): Nigerian defender Ikenne King played for 82 minutes for Honved who beat SZOMBATHELYI HALADÁS 2-0 on Sunday. It was his fifth start of the season. Honved are currently seventh on the log. He was yellow carded in the 82nd minute before being replaced by Botond Barath.

Holland
Bartholomew Ogbeche (Cambuur): NIgerian striker Bartholomew Ogbeche scored his second goal of the season for Cambuur who spanked Groningen 3-0 at the Cambuur stadium. The former Middlesbrough and PSG star has made five Eredivise appearances this season.

Abiola Dauda (Vitesse): Nigerian forward Abiola Dauda scored a hat-trick as Vitesse recorded their first victory of the new Eredivisie season at the expense of SBV Excelsior on Sunday. The Nigerian, who joined Vitesse in the summer from Red Star Belgrade, broke the deadlock five minutes before the break when he turned in a pass from Zakaria Labyad. The home side continued to dominate proceedings after the restart and their pressure was rewarded in the 60th minute when Dauda claimed his second goal of the contest. Dauda, 26, then completed his hat-trick just four minutes later to end any chance that the visitors had of collecting a share of the spoils.
