There are reports that Fulani herdsmen allegedly attacked Tunari village in Wukari Local Government of Taraba State yesterday, September 14 killing no fewer than twenty persons and injuring scores of others.

According to Vanguard, the fulani herdsmen were said to have invaded the village at 10am and set houses ablaze while most residents were in church.

The President of the Youth of Vision, Wukari, Mr Tsa-asen L. Agbu who confirmed the attack to us said the attackers numbering over three hundred, attacked mainly the Jukun Christians.

He said: “They are burning down houses and killing our Jukun Christian brothers. They slaughtered children and women like rams.  Over twenty people have been killed, with several others sustaining various degrees of injuries while several houses have been burnt.

As a result, the President said many have relocated from the area for fear of their lives.

Meanwhile another eyewitness told Vanguard saying: “the attackers operated for several hours killing and burning down houses without any trace of security men to come to our rescue.”

The Eyewitness who said the death toll would have been higher but for the fact that many people were in church when they attacked said they were taken unaware by the attackers suspected to come from the nearby Plateau State.
