The Sickle Cell Hope Alive Foundation (SCHAF) has joined millions of other organizations in the fight against the second wave of COVID-19 by organizing an outreach to distribute branded face masks to Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Warriors and the nurses at the Hematology unit of Ring Road State Hospital (RRSH), Ibadan.
Prof. Falusi, the Executive Director of SCHAF, made this known in a chat with CEOAFRICA.
Prof Falusi, FAS, NPOM, a Nigerian Professor of Haematology and former Director of the Institute for Advanced Medical Research and Training, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, revealed that the face masks were distributed to the SCD Warriors, nurses and other health workers .

It was gathered that the foundation had been distributing face masks to sickle cell patients and health workers across Nigeria.
SCHAF is a Non-Governmental Organization with the primary vision of reducing the burden of sickle cell Disease (SCD) in Nigeria.
Its mission is to “reduce sickle cell Disease burden through a preventive approach of Health Education, Genotype Screening, Genetic counselling, Facilitation of an improved quality of care and Empowerment of SCD affected individuals and research on confounding factors of SCD.”
It is also dedicated to enhance awareness and educate Nigerians on Sickle Cell Disease.
The NGO brings hope, creates happy memories, and improves the quality of life for individuals who experience life-altering situations caused by Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
SCHAF believes in celebrating life and encouraging those affected by SCD and their families to remain hopeful.
